At St Catherine’s, we are committed to fostering a love for sport and fitness in every student, regardless of ability. We believe that offering a diverse range of sports opportunities not only promotes physical health and well-being but also helps build confidence, resilience, and a sense of achievement through both participation and competition.
Our students excel across a variety of sports, including netball, swimming, trampolining, athletics, football, tag rugby and cross-country. In the Prep School, girls swim twice a week, while in the Senior School, they enjoy one weekly swimming lesson. All students benefit from a double PE lesson, ensuring a well-rounded physical education. We also offer a variety of sports clubs before school, at lunchtime, and after school, catering to every interest and skill level.
The PE curriculum changes each year, providing students with the opportunity to experience a wide range of sports, such as badminton, volleyball, tennis, cricket, football, tag rugby, handball, gymnastics, pop lacrosse, and fitness. We encourage girls to take on leadership roles, and it’s common to see older students helping to coach and mentor younger year groups in sports clubs. Many of our students also represent the school regionally, with some competing nationally and even internationally.
