Year 5 had a day full of learning at the Science Museum on Thursday 14 February 2019. Following on from their ‘Space’ topic, the girls were able to learn about rocket engines and the everyday life of an astronaut in space – particular interest was shown in how a space shuttle toilet functions!
This was followed by a materials challenge and time spent in the ‘Wonderlab’. Awe and wonder in abundance – drip camera, dry ice, reflective mirrors, lightning, friction slides and hearing sounds through our bones were just some of the wonders of science experienced. The day was finished with a Science Fire Show ‘Crash, Bang, Wallop!’ where the main message was ‘do not try this at home!’. The Year 5 girls were fantastic and a great day was had by all.
